Socks and forestry clothing in line for design prize

04/10/2010
Two clothing ideas designed by product development company Locus Research have made it onto the shortlist for the 2010 Best Design Award from the Designers Institute of New Zealand (DINZ).

Tauranga-based Locus Research has developed a sock with compression technology and protective clothing for forestry workers, with both products featuring as finalists in the DINZ competition.

The forestry industry project led to Locus working with safety clothing company Jaedon Enterprises. Entitled Protex, the project was created to develop “a whole new internal structure” capable of stopping the chainsaw quickly and preventing injury.
