Price of wool pushed up

07/10/2010
Wool industry sources in New Zealand have reported that the high prices of cotton fibre and a depletion of wool stocks across the globe have pushed wool prices to levels not seen since 1996.

Growers’ organisations have said there is renewed demand for wool in Europe and the Middle East. The price for some types of wool has reached NZ$6 per kilo and are, in some cases, up by 70% on the low-point of July 2009.
