Haggar puts Repreve into pants

Polyester and nylon fibre manufacturer Unifi has partnered with clothing brand Haggar to create a line of sustainable men’s trousers featuring Repreve recycled fibre.

The line will have four styles, from casual to dressy, each featuring a “straighter, more contemporary fit”, the companies said.

Haggar’s senior vice president of marketing and merchandising, Jon Ragsdale, said on announcing the new products: “Our goal was to provide eco-conscious consumers with a sustainable pant that’s focused on style, comfort, and value; while supporting environmental conservation.”

Unifi’s Repreve is a family of fibres made from 100% recycled materials, reducing the need to use crude oil and conserving the earth’s natural resources. On average, a pair of Haggar pants from the product line containing Repreve saves ten plastic bottles from the landfill, the companies have claimed.

Unifi’s executive vice-president, Roger Berrier, commented: “Repreve provides Haggar with a certified, eco-friendly option with the same quality and versatility of conventional yarn.”
