New spinning unit comes on stream in Turkmenistan

A new state-of-the-art spinning unit has come into operation in Turkmenistan and could inject new momentum into the whole textile industry there, the authorities believe.

The factory, in the town of Ruhabat, is a production unit for synthetic and blended yarn. It will be run by local producer Engin Group with high-end machinery from European providers including Marzoli and Savio from Italy. It will aim to produce more than 13,000 tonnes of yarn each year.

A Textile Industry Development Programme is in place aimed at establishing new facilities around the country.
