Free webinar on Oeko-Tex Standard 1000

25/10/2010
The Swiss-based International Oeko-Tex Association is to offer a free online seminar on Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 certification, the standard that offers independent validation that textile manufacturing facilities are operating with environmentally and socially responsible methods. The one-hour webinar will take place on Wednesday, November 10 at 12:00 noon New York time.

Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 is a voluntary programme of testing, auditing and certification that provides an objective assessment of a company’s environmental and social management methods. In order to receive certification under the Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 companies must meet the stipulated environmentally responsible manufacturing criteria and provide evidence that at least 30% of the plant’s total production is already Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, guaranteeing that its output is free from harmful levels of more than 100 dangerous substances.

“Sustainable textile manufacturing is important to both brands and retailers,” says Sam Moore who represents Oeko-Tex in the US. “This webinar will review Oeko-Tex’s approach to certifying manufacturing facilities and the products that are made there.” The webinar will also outline the process for obtaining Oeko-Tex certification, the associated costs, and the marketing opportunities available for certified products. In addition, participants will have the opportunity for questions and answers and to arrange follow-up sessions to address their specific businesses.
