Vietnam could achieve a 15% increase in its garment exports this year, according to a senior figure in the industry.

In the build-up to the tenth Vietnam International Textile and Garments Industry Exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of October, the chairman of the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), one of the biggest textile and garment manufacturers in the country, Le Quoc An, said garment exports were expected to increase by 15% this year and to reach $20 billion by 2020.

Vietnam earned nearly $5.9 billion from garment exports in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year rise of 17.4%.
