Fibre manufacturer DAK Americas, a subsidiary of the Mexican conglomerate Alfa, has agreed to buy Eastman Chemical's polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin business for $600 million.

The sale includes two PET plants and a facility making the raw material, purified terephthalic acid (PTA).

“DAK Americas is extremely excited about the acquisition as it further reinforces our position as an important player in the global PET marketplace,” said the company's chief executive, Héctor Camberos, on announcing the development.
