Kathmandu chooses drirelease

Outdoor apparel company Kathmandu has included drirelease with FreshGuard technology from Optimer in five of the new items in its summer 2010–2011 travel clothing line.

The items featuring drirelease include the Dolomo Travel Dress, as well as men’s and women’s versions of the Pyrenean and Tyrolean travel tops. “Our goal with these garments was to provide adventurous travellers for whom packing space is a priority with fashionable, highly functional garments that require minimal care,” said Lucy Langman, apparel category marketing manager for Kathmandu. “Our designers loved that drirelease fabrics dry four times faster than cotton, and are odour- and wrinkle-free while maintaining a great hand-feel and natural look, making these garments perfect for our customers.”

Chris Moore, general manager of Optimer Labs, commented: “A lot of our customers have used drirelease in their athletic apparel for years. What makes Kathmandu’s products particularly exciting for us is that they are using drirelease fabrics to develop garments that take advantage of its exceptional hand and feel, and deliver fashion in addition to function.”

All of the new drirelease garments in Kathmandu’s line are part of the company’s quickDRY range, and all feature the Pack & Go pack-loop, which allows wearers to roll up the garments for convenient, space-saving packing.
