Jennifer Johnson to wear ECCO golf shoes
Danish shoemaker ECCO has added Jennifer Johnson to its roster of staff players.
As part of the deal, Ms Johnson will wear the ECCO logo on her headwear and will compete exclusively in the company’s Golf Street and BIOM Golf models. She will also feature in global marketing and advertising initiatives.
Ms Johnson turned professional in June after an impressive amateur career that included finishing as low-amateur at the 2010 US Women’s Open, posting a 3-0-1 record as a member of the victorious 2010 US Curtis Cup Team and placing runner-up at the 2009 US Women’s Amateur.
During her one season at Arizona State University, she was the runner-up at the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, was named Pac-10 and NGCA Freshman of the Year and selected as a First-Team NGCA All-American.
“Jennifer’s game is amazingly strong and she’s well-positioned to become one of the top young players on the LPGA Tour,” says Jesper Thuen, sponsor and event manager, ECCO Golf. “Given her age and enthusiasm, we felt she was the perfect fit to showcase our game-changing Golf Street and BIOM Golf styles to a global audience.”
The company claims its BIOM Golf is the first ever natural motion golf shoe. It is designed to absorb impact while bringing players closer to the ground for better traction. Golf Street uses fashionable leathers and features a gripping outsole. It can be worn on and off the course.
ECCO golf shoes are worn in competition by a range of international Tour stars including Fred Couples, Thomas Bjorn, Aaron Baddeley, Stuart Appleby, Thongchai Jaidee Iben Tinning and Linda Wessberg.
