APTMA leaders attend talks with government officials
The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) attended talks with government officials on October 8 to discuss the country’s gas supply problems.
Led by APTMA chairman, Gohar Ejaz, the delegation visited textiles minister, Farooq Saeed, and minister for petroleum, Naveed Qamar.
According to Mr Ejaz, the textile sector has been denied access to gas because of an Energy Summit decision. The decision stipulated that the industry would experience gas load shedding for 24 days during the winter load management period; however, he claims it has already experienced 52 days of gas load shedding over the summer.
The textile sector was denied gas for 15 days in October and three days so far in November, and Mr Ejaz is concerned about further shortages during the winter season.
