Première Vision pulls out of Tokyo show

10/11/2010

According to the organisers of Première Vision Tokyo and JITAC, around 2,200 buyers and designers attended the most recent edition of the show (October 26-28).

During the three-day event, which took place at the Tokyo International Forum, exhibitors showcased their autumn-winter 2011-12 collections. The fair also included fashion shows and seminars and a colour and fabric trend forum.

However, Première Vision says it will not be hosting the show in the future, following just two editions. It claims that the Japanese market has been undermined by deflation and that because of the difficult economic conditions, many Japanese textile brands are reluctant to attend trade shows. As a result, JITAC will be the sole organiser of the next edition, which will be held March 22-24, 2011.

"Clearly, it is not a matter of organising another show. We are in the process of examining a variety of options to allow us to continue, in particular, to share our know-how in terms of fashion information, and to promote Première Vision Paris, which continues to be very successful with Japanese professionals, options we plan to put into effect next season," said Philippe Pasquet, CEO of Première Vision.
