Navratilova prepares for Kilimanjaro climb

With less than a month to go before her Mount Kilimanjaro challenge in Tanzania, tennis legend Martina Navratilova has climbed to the top of the Bank of America Tower in New York. The aim was the last step in the training programme ahead of her fundraising climb to the summit of the world’s tallest freestanding mountain.
The New York event saw the Laureus World Sports Academy Member climb 55 flights of stairs and ascend 950 feet. She was joined on the climb by youngsters from Camp Interactive, part of the network of Laureus Sport for Good projects.
Ms Navratilova, who battled breast cancer earlier this year, will undertake her mountaineering challenge in December, leading a group of 28 climbers to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. They will raise funds for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, a charity that supports community sports projects around the world to help improve the lives of more than a million young people.
