Italian climbing equipment manufacturer CAMP has launched several new products to be used by ski moutaineers. The main aim of the new items is to offer technical benefits, keep the user safe and be light to use and carry.

The CAMPack Rapid 260 offers a new Wire Xpress ski carrying system for maximum speed during races, an easy access padded crampon pocket, an inner pocket for a shovel and pockets for a shovel shaft, avalanche probe or ice axe. Other features include breathable shoulder straps with gear pockets, an easy release chest strap and padded sections made from mesh, mesh 3D and polyester at the back. The pack has a 20-litre capacity and weighs just 260 grammes.

The CAMP Speed is a lightweight helmet for mountaineering, ski mountaineering competitions and climbing, and features a new wheel adjustment system. It has an EPS inner structure, polycarbonate outer shell with holes for good ventilation and is headlamp compatible. The helmet weighs 230 grammes.

The CAMP Crest is a lightweight snow shovel that meets ISMF (International Ski Mountaineering Federation) regulations and is designed for ski-mountaineering competitions. It has a polypropylene blade and a detachable aluminium shaft. The drop-shaped shaft offers better resistance to bending and provides ergonomic grip. The blade is 20cm by 20cm, has a shaft length of 35cm and weighs 253 grammes.

Finally, the CAMP G Comp Wind gloves are lightweight and offer built-in extra protection. They are best suited for ski mountaineering, skiing and general mountaineering. They comprise a Windmit’N windbreak system in a pouch on the top of the wrist and weigh just 81 grammes.
