Vibram launches eco-friendly snowboard soles

Italian sole technology provider Vibram has introduced new environmentally friendly products.

The Vibram Driver Xi-3 sole is made from the company’s partly recycled EcoStep compound, which is designed to optimise freeride performance and to provide cushioning. The EcoStep compound reuses up to 30% of work scraps and Vibram has now launched EcoStep+, which comprises up to 50% of recycled materials.

A gel insert in the midsole of the Driver Xi-3 improves shock absorption for the heel, while the multidirectional lugs optimise traction and grip. The lateral tread stabilises the sole and the sole provides good grip on ice and snow.
Vermont-based snowboarding gear provider Burton Snowboards has used the new sole in its Burton Imperial freeride boot. The boot also offers an EST midsole, consistent flex and bulletproof durability through its S4 shell panelling and Speed Zone lacing.
