Unifi opens El Salvador base
US-based yarns producer Unifi is to officially open its Unifi Central America (UCA) division on December 2. Local and state-elected officials in El Salvador will join Unifi president and CEO, Bill Jasper, executive vice president, Roger Berrier, and vice president of manufacturing, Tom Caudle, for the opening ceremony.
The manufacturing plant, which spans almost 120,000 square feet, will contain eight texturing machines and 27 twisting machines. UCA will employ approximately 175 people and can be found at Zona Franca, American Industrial Park, El Salvador. Juan Zepeda will serve as general manager and Joey Yates as sales manager.
"The expansion of Unifi manufacturing operations into Central America will allow the company to better support and service our customers in the region," said Mr Berrier. “This manufacturing operation will provide enhanced regional and global sourcing solutions to our growing customer base.”
