According to the Press Trust of India, the Indian government has raised expectations for textile exports in 2011. It has introduced a new export target of $24.5 billion, up 9% compared with the $22.4 billion 2010 target.

Textile and clothing exports grew 11.5% to $7.6 billion between April and July compared with $6.8 billion during the prior-year period.

Textiles minister, Dayanidhi Maran, suggests that marketing and infrastructure needs to improve in order to keep the momentum within the textile sector going in the coming years.
