Amsterdam move for Hi-Tec
Sportswear firm Hi-Tec is to relocate its global headquarters from Southend-on-Sea, UK, to Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The move will take place early next year and incorporates the group’s product development, design, marketing and finance functions.
Established in 1974 by Frank van Wezel, the company is now represented in more than 80 countries. Heading up the relocation, with approximately eight other executives, is Ed van Wezel, Frank’s son and Hi-Tec’s general manager.
Martin Binnendijk, formally European chief executive, will be the group’s new chief finance officer. This position was previously held by Bob Kaiser who has been announced with immediate effect as the chief executive of Magnum USA in Modesto, California.
Hi-Tec USA has relocated to Portland, Oregon, under CEO Bill Berta. Ian Cameron, previously UK sales director, has been named as Hi-Tec UK’s managing director, effective January 2011.
“Hi-Tec is primed for growth and Amsterdam is the hub for some of the best talent in our industry and is also an extremely creative environment for the entire team to benefit from,” Ed van Wezel said. “We are extremely proud of our British roots though, and will continue to run and invest in our successful UK (incorporating Republic of Ireland) subsidiary from Southend-on-Sea.”
