California-based outdoor sports lifestyle company Quiksilver has revealed that its sales for the fourth quarter and full year ended October 31 were lower than sales during the corresponding periods last year.

Based on preliminary data, the company estimates that fourth quarter revenues were between $492 million and $497 million compared with $538.7 million during the prior-year period.

Also based on preliminary data, the company estimates that full-year net revenues were between $1.835 billion and $1.840 billion compared with $1.978 billion in 2009.

According to the company, these estimated results are higher than the most recent outlook provided in September, at which point the company had expected fourth quarter revenues to be down in the mid-teens on a percentage basis compared to the same quarter a year ago.
