NBA team to use Sigvaris’ Active Therapy socks

30/11/2010

US-based Sigvaris will supply NBA team Nets Basketball with socks from its Active Therapy line for training, recovery and travel.
According to the company, the socks offer “true graduated compression”. The compression level is strongest at the ankle and gradually diminishes as it goes up the leg.
This, it claims, helps fight the force of gravity and circulates blood back to the heart and lungs more efficiently. When blood is properly circulated, it provides much-needed oxygen and nutrients to tired muscles that have been, or are being, deprived during a workout.

In addition to improved circulation, Sigvaris claims that wearing compression during and after strenuous exercise or competition can help flush out lactic acid and relieve leg muscle soreness.
In addition to Nets Basketball, the sock provider has partnerships in place with the Atlanta Falcons and the Indianapolis Colts NFL teams for the 2010 and 2011 football seasons. It has also formed partnerships with various sports organisations in North America, such as: the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), USProTri, Southern Crescent Cycling Club, and Cross Country Canada (CCC-skiing).
