Invista names Synchronised Swimmer of the Year
Fibre and polymer-producing company Invista has awarded British swimmer Jenna Randall the Synchronised Swimmer of the Year Award at the 2010 Splash Awards.
Held in London, England, on 26 November 2010, the Splash Awards are designed to honour athletes who excel in aquatic sports. Invista, which owns the Lycra fibre brand, has a natural alliance with the world of swimming and has supported the awards for three years.
“This is the third consecutive year that Invista has supported the Splash Awards, as we awarded Sharron Davies last year with the Lifetime Achievement Award and previously awarded Rebecca Adlington with the Female Swimmer of the Year recognition,” said Claire O’Neill, marketing manager for Invista Apparel in the UK. “We are proud to celebrate leading players within their field and we are therefore very pleased to bestow our award on Jenna Randall and recognize her exceptional talent and how much she has achieved in her competitive career. Her elegance and excellence allow her example to reach far beyond the niche world of synchronised swimming, and I am sure she will continue to inspire people to achieve their goals for many years to come.”
Jenna Randall said: “I want to thank the Splash Awards and Invista for this award as it not only celebrates my career but it also recognises the wealth of British talent that we have in this country. It definitely helps to raise the profile of this elegant specialist sport.”
The Splash Awards were created six years ago in support of the Swimming Trust and British Olympic Foundation. The evening was hosted by Olympic Bronze Medallist Steve Parry.
