Rieter starts work on second Chinese factory

Textile machinery manufacturer Rieter has begun the construction of a second plant at Changzhou in China. The company said the new plant would “open a new chapter” in its activities in China.

Rieter’s new plant will be only four kilometers from its existing factory in Changzhou but is needed to support growing demand for textile machinery, the company said. It will provide customers with a range of technology from blowroom to cards, drawframes and combers, as well as ring spinning and rotor spinning machines.

The new plant is planned to further expand facilities up to 60,000 square-metres within the next few years. The first phase, around 17,000 square-metres, will be constructed in 2011 and is expected to come into operation in the fourth quarter of the year.
