Japanese corporation Marubeni is to enter into a new partnership with state-owned Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), to build garment and textile factories in Vietnam, the Vietnamese group has announced.

According to Vinatex, Marubeni has expressed an interest in moving investment out of China and into Vietnam. Bloomberg quoted Marubeni’s head of textiles, Katsuhisa Yabe, as saying the group currently makes about 90% of its garment products in China, but added that the executive offered no explanation of the proposed move into Vietnam.
