Italian mountaineer to present Outdoor Inspiration Awards

The Outdoor Inspiration Awards will be presented at a ceremony in Salt Lake City on January 21 by Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner.

Outdoor ambassador, author of 60 books and conqueror of the world’s highest peaks, Mr will present awards to the individuals, groups and companies chosen by the competition’s panel of judges for helping others appreciate and take part in outdoor activities. The competition is sponsored by adidas.

“Reinhold Messner is arguably the most famous name in mountaineering history and we are delighted he is coming from halfway around the world to help us shine a light on those who are invigorating outdoor participation in any and all forms,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, chief executive of the Outdoor Industry Association.

Nominations for the Outdoor Inspiration Awards, for exploratory guide groups to marathon creators and outdoor business stewards, are being accepted electronically at awards@outdoorindustry.org until December 27.
