07/01/2011

After a reported 15-year endorsement deal, Phoenix-based professional basketball player Steve Nash is leaving US sporting apparel company Nike in favour of the Chinese brand, Luyou.

According to CBS Sports.com, Mr Nash is the latest among National Basketball Association players who have entered into endorsement deals with Chinese shoe companies.

Boston Celtics’s Kevin Garnett signed with ANTA while Los Angeles Clipper’s Baron Davis is with Li-Ning.

The move is a sign of the growing popularity of NBA players in the Chinese market as well as the rising competitiveness of Chinese shoe companies.
