DSM Dyneema courts bloggers for competition

Skippers on performance cruisers can have their boats rigged for free if they take part in a new blogging competition organised by Dutch high-strength fibre maker DSM Dyneema. “If you are one of the 40 skippers selected to join the 2011 Dyneema Experience Team, we will re-rig your boat together with our partners, at our cost, with ropes made with Dyneema,” said the company’s global marketing manager, Marcel Alberts, on announcing the competition. “All we ask is that you put the rigging through its paces, and tell the sailing world how you get on with it via social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.”

The most active blogging skipper in the team will also qualify for a master class with a friend on one of the 2011–2012 Volvo Ocean Race yachts just before the next edition of the round-the-world race starts in Alicante, Spain, on October 30.

“We want to make this fun for everybody,” said Marcel Alberts. “We’re not looking for professional writers, expert bloggers, movie directors or photographers.
