Lectra hosts third successful international education congress

Textile technology provider Lectra brought together a select group of its partners for a third education conference in Shanghai towards the end of 2010, with 52 participants representing 24 design schools from nine countries: Germany, Brazil, China, the US, France, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

Lectra said that although it held its first two education conferences in Bordeaux, it had wanted this time to capitalise on its worldwide presence to organise the event in China. It described China as a key country in the fashion industry, which “presents challenging opportunities and has one of the highest growth rates in the world”.

At the congress, the morning was dedicated to the presentation of Lectra’s latest technological innovations. Delegates later visited one of the eight production centres run by Chenfeng, one of China’s ten biggest apparel manufacturing companies, employing 6,400 people and a partner of major global brands.

Lectra has been present in China since 1986. It has its headquarters for the region, a technology centre, and a call centre for Asia in Shanghai. Across five main offices, it has 90 employees in the region and says it “maintains close ties” with approximately 2,000 customers there.
