Mondetta moves to New York but remains loyal to hometown
Canadian clothing company MONDETTA has designed and manufactured a soft-shell jacket, T-shirt, sweatpant, track jacket, bag and scarf for Team Manitoba but one item is destined to stand out -- a toque topped with bison horns.
Heather Johnson, a designer at Mondetta, explains the thought process behind the look of the item: "We tried to do a piece that will get more attention, be something athletes from other provinces will want and become the desirable item of the games".
Mondetta will also outfit a similar number of Manitoba athletes for this summer's Western Canada Summer Games in Kamloops, B.C., an amateur multi-sport event held biannually.
The company’s headquarters have moved to New York in the past two months, which has already proved beneficial for the brand. Tony Lavilla, the company's branding director, has stated that Mondetta has signed agreements to provide its MPG line of high-performance workout wear to Equinox, an exclusive line of workout gyms in the U.S., and Paragon Sports, an elite sports store in New York.
