China action could hit nylon supply chain

News agencies in China have reported that the government there will apply anti-dumping measures on imports from the US and the European Union of caprolactam, the organic compound that manufacturers use to make nylon.

China’s ministry of commerce said on January 24 that it had evidence of US and European companies dumping the compound on the Chinese market, which means it believes suppliers from those regions are charging customers in China a cheaper price than the rates they charge companies in their home markets. The ministry said this had caused substantial damage to China’s domestic industry.
