Projections of $3.2m for US snow sports
A researcher for the mountain sports industry has said that cold, snowy weather and an improving economy could push sales of winter sports gear to a record in the US for the 2011-2012 season.
SnowSports Industries America director of research Kelly Davis is projecting around $3.2 billion in sales of snow sports gear, which includes snowshoes, helmets, skis, snowboards and apparel.
This would top the record set in the 2007-2008 season of around $3 billion.
Commenting at a recent snow event in Denver, Ms Davis said rising production costs in Asia could hit consumers with higher prices next season, however.
