Ellesse Italia to launch in India
Italian sports apparel brand Ellesse Italia is close to signing a five-year licensing deal with Indian apparel maker S Kumars Nationwide, local media has reported.
Ellesse is a part of the UK-based brand management firm Pentland Group, which also owns other sportswear brands such as Speedo and Lacoste.
Ellesse is likely to be launched in India in four months, with S Kumars Nationwide setting up at least five stores in the next fiscal year. An S Kumar spokesperson refused to confirm or deny the development.
Founded in Italy in 1959, Ellesse, which got its name from the initials of its founder after its founder Leonardo Servadio, was created as a skiwear brand.
With Ellesse, S Kumars Nationwide aims to tap into the young Indian’s growing desire to dress casually and contemporarily.
