Olypmic ski cross gold medalist at ispo
Olympic ski cross gold medalist Mike Schmid visited ispo (6-9 February, 2011, Munich, Germany) on 7 February as helmet and eyewear company Alpina's special guest.
The Swiss athlete talked about the new popularity of his sport, his injury and his aims. Alpina's CEO Werner Grau commented on his company’s involvement in professional sports.
Mr Schmid, who is the inaugural Olympic champion in ski cross, tore a cruciate ligament during practice in June. About two weeks ago he was back on skies again for the first time. "That was a funny feeling," said the 26-year-old in his interview Alpina's booth, "and it was absolutely fantastic." He was still harbouring hopes of returning to the World Cup this time: "But only if I’m one hundred percent fit," he said.
