Vaude unveils China strategy

08/02/2011
In order to expand its brand presence in China’s booming market, German mountain sports brand Vaude has entered into a comprehensive collaboration with Kailas, a Chinese outdoor gear company. As of 2011, the Chinese brand will take charge of Vaude's distribution activities for the Chinese market.

In addition, the two brands have agreed upon a close collaboration for the supplier sector, joint development work and licensing agreements for Vaude products in China. The collaboration will be officially sealed at the ispo trade fair in Beijing (23-25 February, 2011) with a celebratory contract signing ceremony.

With this new collaboration, Vaude aims to profit from the market potential of Asia’s largest market and achieve increased sales growth. The mid-size Vaude brand can make use of synergies in production, marketing and distribution of mountain sports equipment through the popularity of the Kailas brand, which has a current total of 600 sales outlets. In the future, the newly established Guangzhou Vaude Sport Products company will be in charge of expanding the Vaude brand’s presence and sales of its products with its own development and distribution team. In addition, a licensing agreement on the use of the trademark rights has been established.
