AWI launches MerinoPerform at ispo

Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) has launched its new MerinoPerform Pro fabric innovation at the ispo international sports trade show in Munich, Germany (6-9 February, 2011).

MerinoPerform Pro is a new knitted fabric technology made of pure merino wool, which AWI claims transfers vapour and sweat away from the body, enabling the wearer to stay cool and dry during exercise.

AWI general manager, Jimmy Jackson, says the innovation has been developed from a unique double-face 100% merino fabric.

“During the initial phases of exercise, the inner layer of the merino fabric absorbs moisture vapour thereby creating a drier micro-climate. Any sweat is efficiently absorbed by the fabric’s outer layer where it quickly evaporates, leaving the wearer cooler and drier,” Mr Jackson said.

“MerinoPerform is the ultimate sports fabric for the serious participant – both professional and amateur. It’s ideal for base-layer garments aimed at low to high activity sports, all year round and in all climates.”

AWI also showcased at ispo a range of commercially available fabrics from the global MerinoPerform supply base, including MerinoPerform Advantage and MerinoPerform Next to Skin fabrics.
