Proprietary technology works well for FITS

Sock brand FITS has expanded new lines for autumn 2011.

FITS manufactures its socks in the oldest operating hosiery mill in the US, going back to 1902, giving the brand what it calls a strong and storied company history, technical expertise and long-held knowledge of fit and comfort. The company employs 160 people at the mill in Niota, Tennessee.

Last year, FITS launched its own brand with its own proprietary knitting process and technology. It will continue to roll out new models in 2011. To date the brand offers socks for hiking, camping, outdoor recreation and snow recreation in high and low profiles.

The socks are constructed from two-ply, compact-spun, ultra-fine merino wool with a micron count of 18.5 microns (the next level is cashmere), providing softness and durability. The company’s proprietary technology, F3, delivers a deep heel pocket, specialised toe seam, and contoured leg to keep the socks in place. This means no bunching, hot spots, or friction.
