Designer Textiles joins MerinoPerform
New Zealand-based fabric manufacturer Designer Textiles International has become a member of the new MerinoPerform program headed by Australian Wool Innovation (AWI).
AWI recently launched a new fabric innovation, MerinoPerform Pro, at ispo 2011 (6-9 Feb, Munich, Germany), a new knitted fabric technology made of pure merino wool, which AWI claims transfers vapour and sweat away from the body, enabling the wearer to stay cool and dry during exercise.
Malcolm Walkinshaw, CEO of Designer Textiles International, believes the new partnership will further promote the use of merino wool in the sports apparel industry. “There is now a strong recognition of the natural benefits of merino amongst sports brands, and Designer Textiles International is using innovative merino fabrics to differentiate ourselves from synthetics,” he said. “So, the demand for merino is continuing to increase.”
