MHM awaits delivery of its first production run

Start-up outdoor company Mile High Mountaineering (MHM) has announced the completion of its first production run of backpacks. The product run is currently in transit but MHM expects delivery to its Colorado headquarters on March 14.

Production took place in the Philippines, with a member of the MHM design team travelling there immediately after the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market exhibition in Salt Lake City in January to oversee the final stages.

Packs that MHM has had on display until now, including at Outdoor Retailer, were what founder Jeff Popp describes as sales samples, which the company has built on and improved.

MHM was founded in 2009 and decided to focus on backpacks, which it describes as one of the single most important pieces of equipment that outdoor enthusiasts use.

“Using only the best fabrics and an over-obsessive attention to detail has produced what we fully believe to be the best packs out there,” Jeff Popp says. “The quality, unique features and compartmentalised design are like nothing else. Our mission is to redefine the backpack and we truly hope people enjoy using our packs as much as we’ve enjoyed designing them.”

The first collection will launch at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in August and will be in stores in time for spring 2012.
