Slazenger takes on India
Indian manufacturer and exporter of sports equipment, Mayor International Limited, has joined hands with UK-based sports equipment brand Slazenger, to be the licensee for Slazenger sports equipment, apparel and shoes in South Asia.
The License Agreement, executed in 2010, grants Mayor International Limited the exclusive right to produce, market, distribute and retail a range of sports equipment, sports and lifestyle apparel and shoes for men and women, in the Indian, Sri Lankan and Bangladesh markets through its own distribution, marketing and dealer network in these countries.
The long-term arrangement also entitles Mayor International Limited to use the services of all Slazenger sponsored players and events to promote the brand in these South Asian markets.
“Our strength in South Asia will provide Slazenger with the perfect platform from which to enter into and grow in the South Asian Market,” said Rajan Mayor, managing director of Mayor International Limited.
The agreement also entitles Mayor International Limited to use the domain expertise and knowledge in marketing and brand promotion of Slazenger, which will assist Mayor International Limited in creating suitable marketing campaigns in South Asia.
Speaking about the association, Sunny Singh, head of sports marketing at Slazenger, said: “We are certain that Slazenger will soon become as much of a household name in India as it is in most other markets across the world and we look forward to working closely with the Mayor Group to realize the full potential of this association.”
Slazenger sponsors some of the world’s leading cricketers in Paul Collingwood, Jacques Kallis, Matt Prior, Daniel Vettori and Michael Clarke and will now also see its name associated with several emerging Indian cricket stars as well, as Mayor International Limited commences its marketing and promotional activities in India.
