Under Armour to make English Premier League debut

09/03/2011
Sports apparel brand Under Armour has announced that it will provide shirts and other team apparel to London-based English Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs). The deal, which will come into effect at the start of 2012–13 season, will give Under Armour its first deal with a team in the world’s wealthiest league.

Spurs finished in fourth place in the table last season.

“This allows us to create a media vehicle in a market where we are under-penetrated,” Mark Dowley, Under Armour’s executive vice president, global brand and president of international, told Bloomberg on travelling to London to make the announcement.

Terms of the five-year deal remain undisclosed. Under Armour will take over from Puma as the club’s kit supplier.
