The company will open its new headquarters there this spring and will use the facility as a centre for distributing its products all over Europe and North Africa. The project will involve an investment of around EUR 17 million and will create 50 jobs.
At first, Double Star will use the site in Catalonia to distribute products made in China, but the company has said it anticipates setting up some manufacturing activity there if it meets its targets.
Esteve Solanes, locally appointed director of the new facility told Spanish media that attitudes in the west towards Chinese goods had been “arrogant and disrespectful”. He said people in the west had to realise that China had taken over in many areas of business and was now producing quality products.
