All companies to have issued statements put sympathy for the victims of these events and for their severely damaged communities at the top of their messages.
Toyota Tsusho said its facility in Sendai, a city close to the epicentre of the earthquake, had come through with little damage. “We sincerely hope to see the swift recovery of the afflicted areas,” the company said.
Spinning company Toyobo said there had been no reports of harm or injury to any of its personnel, and that damage to the group’s buildings, equipment, and other property had been “extremely minimal”. It went on to say it would make further announcements regarding any effects on its performance.
Fibres manufacturer Teijin announced that it will donate 100 million Japanese yen for relief aids and recovery efforts in communities affected by the earthquake and tsunami. It said it was also prepared to supply products, such as blankets, masks and thermal underwear, to people who have been displaced by the events.
