Football club calls supplier to account

16/03/2011
Mar del Plata-based football club Gimnasia, which plays in Argentina’s first division, has complained that supplies of its 2011 kit have failed to come through from sports clothing brand Penalty.

The Brazilian brand took over the contract to kit out Gimnasia from Kappa at the start of the year, but Gimnasia has told media in Argentina that the company has not yet been able to supply local shops with replica shirts for fans, and has not even been able to deliver enough apparel to the team itself. So much so that in a match against Lanús on March 12, Gimnasia’s veteran coach, Ángel Cappa, had to wear an old track-suit bearing the brand-name of the previous supplier.
