Innov_ex programme in place

21/03/2011
The organisers of this year’s Innov_ex conference at Lancaster University Management School in northern England from April 12–13 have announced that the speakers’ programme is now complete. Supported by The Textile Institute, the event is the UK’s only conference that directly addresses issues around sustainability in relation to the outdoor industry.

This year, Innov_ex will explore the theme: ‘Sustainability is a journey not a destination’.  The conference will look at emerging technologies and how they can impact on all aspects of running outdoor businesses.

Day one will focus on emerging technologies and, through a series of workshops, delegates will explore the implications for the outdoor industry. The programme has been developed for three audience groups: retailers, webmasters and e-commerce specialists; product managers, textile and garment specialists, designers, and sales and marketing specialists; and those looking to design more sustainably. The workshops have been tailored to offer delegates with different requirements relevant and practical content that they can take back and use in their own businesses.

Day two will see the conference explore the sustainability journey in more detail. Using a series of case studies from small and large companies, Innov_ex will help delegates to better understand the challenges and rewards inherent in a genuine business commitment to sustainability. The day will cover themes such as sustainable design, measures of sustainability, eco guides for mountain and skiing products, and developing a sustainable clothing action plan.

Highlighting new initiatives and best practice, such as the Nike Environment Design Tool, Innov_ex aims to equip delegates with both information and the means to implement positive changes to their businesses.
