Two new stores for O’Neill in Europe

Surf and winter sports brand O’Neill has announced the opening of two new stores in Europe, one in the Belgian city of Hasselt, the other in Dresden, Germany.

O’Neill will occupy a 250 square-metre site in the centre of Hasselt, in what the sports brand has described as one of the city’s prime old-town shopping locations. Hasselt was the first city in the world to offer entirely zero-fare bus transportation for all its citizens, and the result is that the main shopping area is still in the old town, which is largely car-free. O’Neill says its “thriving retail concept based around founder Jack O'Neill and his iconic cliff-top home perched high above the Pacific coastline in Santa Cruz, California” will bring a bit of northern California right into the heart of the city.

The first of the two new stores is scheduled to open in Dresden, Germany on 31 March 2011. Located in the newly-extended wing of the ECE shopping centre, the brand has a 150 square-metre retail space.

Looking ahead to the future, O'Neill says it will forge ahead with its retail concept roll-out plans by opening a minimum of five new branded retail stores by the end of this year. The plans include new spaces in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

O'Neill's head of retail in Europe, Peter van Kampen, commented: “We want as many people as possible to connect with O'Neill, and our stores help us achieve this aim by providing shoppers with a really great 360-degree brand experience.”
