US sports apparel brand New Balance has signed American professional baseball player Kevin Youkilis to a multi-year endorsement contract.

“I’m excited to join forces with New Balance, they are an innovative brand and their performance footwear and apparel will help take my game to another level,” said Mr Youkilis. “I am also proud to partner with a company that continues to make shoes in the United States and that is eager to support my charitable programmes, which are really important to me.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the brand will sponsor the ‘Youk’s Kids’ charity and the newly launched ‘Athletes for Heroes’ programme.

“We are thrilled to partner with Kevin, an all-star athlete with great personal integrity, who has enthusiasm and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children,” said Mark Cavanaugh, general manager of sports marketing at New Balance. “New Balance admires and shares his commitment to our local communities, and we look forward to supporting him.”

This season, Mr Youkilis will be wearing a special model of the New Balance 1103 baseball spike. According to New Balance, the 1103 features high-performance running technologies to eliminate spike pressure and give an athlete comfort and fit on the field.
