Positive quarter for TenCate

03/05/2011
Protective fabrics manufacturer TenCate has announced an increase in sales of 46% in the first quarter of 2011 compared to the same period last year. Sales in the January-March period in 2011 reached EUR 279 million compared to EUR 192 million for the same three months in 2010.

Pre-tax profits rose significantly from EUR 3 million to EUR 14.1 million. The company said the increase in its sales and profit is partly the result of considerably higher demand for its TenCate Defender protective fabric products.

It said sales of TenCate Defender M products  to the US Army continued at an “exceptionally high level”, but added that the potential for TenCate Defender M in countries outside the US is growing. The company recently secured an order from the Italian Army.

Sales of TenCate Tecasafe Plus fabrics in the industrial market showed further growth. TenCate said it was also pleased with its progress in new geographical markets.
