Graz firm turns to Lenzing for UNESCO project

A local clothing company, Dresscode21, has celebrated the recognition the Austrian city of Graz has received from the United Natinos Education Science and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) by designing a special shirt.

UNESCO added Graz to the international network of creative cities in March and Dresscode has adopted the title usually given to network members, City of Design, for the new garment.

To emphasise the Austrian character of the shirt, the company has made Tencel from Lenzing the most important component of the fabric mix. The City of Design shirt is 67% Tencel and 33% cotton.

Dresscode21 said it wanted the dress-shirt, designed to be worn without a tie, to add to men’s dress options. Tencel appealed because it is made only 200 kilometres from Graz, but also because the range of functionalities Tencel fabric offers hs allowed it to make a shirt that is non-iron, has high levels of moisture and odour management, and enhances the clothing brand’s sustainability story.
