Sports brand Volcom has announced a sponsorship deal for Malaysian surfer Brenda Lee Lai Yee. The company said it believed this development would "open a new chapter in Malaysian women's surfing" because the athlete is the first ever woman surfer from the Asian country to secure a sponsorship deal.

Ms Lee will represent Volcom, soon to be acquired by PPR Group, in Malaysia, serving as a brand ambassador for its clothes and accessories and will feature in the company's advertising campaigns there.
