Slam extends Dryarn range to new sailing jersey

18/05/2011
Sailing apparel specialist Slam has extended its partnership with Aquafil to put the fibre manufacturer's polypropylene microfibre brand, Dryarn, into a new jersey, the Alford.

Slam has been manufacturing garments made of Dryarn for a number of years and is now successfully marketing its Shore and Sea Breeze polo shirts, Black Seal long trousers, Kirio bermudas and now, the Alford, a traditional sailing jersey but made of hi-tech materials.

The Alford is lightweight and offers high levels of protection against variations in temperature. It is a summer garment that can be worn as a more practical alternative to lightweight wool, right up to the first cold snaps. It is easy to care for as Dryarn garments can be machine-washed at low temperatures and dry rapidly and without the need for ironing.

In addition, Aquafil poinst out that products such as the Alford are environmentally friendly because Dryarn is manufactured in its end colours and fabrics made from it do not need to undergo a dyeing process. This means savings in electricity, water and waste.
