18/05/2011
Outdoor brand The North Face has announced Duncan Bembridge as its new hard goods sales director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Based in Switzerland, he will take responsibility for the pan-European distribution and sales strategy for footwear and equipment. Working closely with the country sales’ teams in shaping the category’s long-term focus, Mr Bembridge will also build a dedicated hard goods sales team. He will report directly to European sales director, Arne Arens.

Having held various footwear roles at adidas and Dr Martens in the UK, Mr Bembridge joined The North Face's parent company, VF International, in 2004 as country manager for the UK and Ireland for the Jansport brand. He was promoted to the role of European marketing and sales director for Jansport in 2007. He is a keen sports player, having played semi-professional football and cricket, and now as an avid cyclist.

Arne Arens said on announcing the appointment: "We're sure that with his extensive experience in this industry segment, combined with a strong knowledge of VF, Duncan is the ideal person to evolve our hard goods strategy. He will provide our retail partners with a clear point of difference."
