Shima Seiki responds to knitting machine demand
03/06/2011
Wakayama-based Shima Seiki said at the time of the launch that the new machine is "highly productive, energy-efficient, and compact" and that it had been developed as "a new machine for a new era of knitting".
According to Shima Seiki, the worldwide economic slowdown shifted production to manufacturing centres that provide a large amount of basic goods at a lower price. Since the recovery of the economy, production has remained in these areas but "with greater interest in capital investment". As part of this, Shima Seiki says demand for computerised knitting machines has increased, especially in emerging markets where hand-flat machines and mechanical
machines are "being phased out".
The new machine has a 45-inch knitting width and an ultra-compact double-system carriage, allowing up to 15% more machines to be installed in each factory.
